The people using the technology
Nicole Reznic teaches and works across technology, business and human behaviour. Her route began in diamond grading and auction work before moving into customer data, digital transformation and entrepreneurship. She describes a continuing interest in how people use information to make decisions, and how technology can support relationships without replacing human judgement.
The error log an AI user missed
At a hackathon, Reznic recalls a participant whose AI-assisted coding project would not run. She encouraged him to ask an experienced coder, who pointed to an unchecked error log. For her, the episode illustrates why subject knowledge and a willingness to question an answer matter. She asks students to examine assumptions, missing information and original sources when using AI.
Confidence depends on the setting
Reznic also describes feeling out of place at that recent hackathon, despite experience teaching and speaking about technology. She does not describe this as a constant feeling. Nor does she accept a general explanation that women simply lack ambition or confidence: she asks how the environments judging them value competence and presentation. Her case for combining creative and technical interests also includes developing depth in a subject.
